OH and totally forgot to add - im on the logo :) The girl who did my logo really encouraged me to have my picture on the logo. I didnt want it to look like its all about me but in retrospect - I like having me on there. It shows that all shapes, sizes and genders (the middle person is a male) can do pole.
I started doing pole in 2006 - before I was diagnosed. I was a dancer, cheerleader and gymnast back in the day and I lost that part of myself when I had my daughter in 2004. I started pole for all the aspects you mentioned. Ive always been happy with my size - im cool being curvy. But I wanted to be healthier version of me, with curves.
Every pole studio ive gone to, ive never felt out of place being there due to my size. Were all there with the same goal in mind - lose weight and feel better about ourseleves. No need to judge another woman while were there. I have made many friendships from pole and started becoming a face upon this form of exercise that is becoming more and more mainstream.
